Epidemiological Study of Organophosphorus Poisoning at College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital, Bharatpur, Nepal

Introduction: Poisoning is an acute medical emergency. Organophosphorus (OP) poison, being easily available and relatively cheaper, mostly used by people for suicide. It a major health problem worldwide also cause of suicide in Nepal. The purpose this study was to assess the overall profile patients with poisoning. Methods: A Prospective hospital based descriptive cross-sectional conducted on organophosphorous poisoning emergency department (ER) College Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital during one year period from 1st January 2020 31st December 2021. Data analysis done using SPSS-16 software. Categorical variables were presented form tables frequency percentage. analyzed statistical tools. Results: total 123 OP cases attended over year. female male ratio 1.19:1. Most occurred age group 15-25yrs. Majority married students. Oral route (87.83%) most common administration. main reason family personal issues. stay 3-7 days hospital. mortality 3.25%. Conclusions: intentional female, & students younger group. issue.
